Troubleshooting with the Queen of the Thrones™ Castor Oil Pack

Our Queendom has been buzz, buzz, buzzin’ with everyone sharing their awesome experiences with their castor oil packs! There’s also been a few bumps in the road along the way, but no worries – we’ve got you covered! This is why I wanted to take the time to share some troubleshooting tips with you for our amazing Queen of the Thrones™ Castor Oil Packs.

Castor Oil Pack Leaking

Has leaking been a problem for you? Oil getting through to the outer layer and staining your clothes and bedsheets? Here are the most common reasons this happens with the Queen of the Thrones™ castor oil packs.

Oil Application

Make sure to use a small amount of oil (1-2 tbsp, you can eyeball it) and use the sides of your pack to gently blot it around in the MIDDLE of the pack, avoiding the seams at all costs! When oil reaches the seams it will leak through to the outer layer. Another option is to put the castor oil directly on your body and rub it in, then place your pack over top.

Storage

Your castor oil pack should be stored with the inner layer facing upwards or with all of the sides facing upwards.

Heat

Adding heat can cause the oil to become more runny, leaking towards the seams and onto the outside of the pack. Heat is used in natural medicine to slow things down, so if you have a tendency more toward constipation, heat isn’t the best option, whereas with diarrhea and cramping it can be a nice compliment to your treatment.

Stains

Castor oil is an incredible substance that does so many wonderful things in the body. It’s been affectionately named the ‘divine oil’ and the ‘magical oil’ over the centuries, but as amazing as it is, it is unfortunately very sticky and WILL STAIN FABRICS.

Oily mess is part of the package when it comes to doing castor oil packs. For this reason our packs are not completely mess-free, they are LESS messy than the traditional DIY way. Which, if you’ve ever tried packs the old way, I’m sure you can attest to! In fact this is one of the most common things we hear from our Queendom, is that people are just amazed by how much easier our packs are and how they’ve revolutionized this sacred health practice for them.

We always recommend wearing an old T-shirt when doing your pack just to be safe. And if you want to be extra careful, lay down a towel in bed. This beautiful oil loves to make a mess, but it loves to help your body even more!

Castor Oil Pack Fit

The Queen of the Thrones™ packs have been in the works for over 10 years. I’ve tried many different designs and different materials, and tested them all on myself and some with patients. The Queen of the Thrones™ pack is a culmination of all of these years of developing the best pack possible, carefully designed with only the healthiest and best quality materials to make the treatment quick, easy, less-messy and toxin-free.

Our castor oil pack is designed in the shape of an infinity symbol, because this was the best shape to allow the pack to caress the natural curves of the body. (Plus it’s totally symbolic of infinite health!) All bodies are beautifully unique shapes and sizes – so if you’re finding that the pack isn’t fitting you quite right, here’s some troubleshooting tips.

Too Big

For people with a very tiny torso, the strings can be wrapped around the back of the body and tied over top of the outer layer of the pack to make it fit more snug.

Too Small

For people who find the pack a bit too snug, 2 packs can be used, and the straps can be tied over top of each other. This covers more internal organs, making the treatment more comprehensive!

Castor Oil Pack Cleaning

As mentioned above, castor oil is a very penetrating substance that is difficult (if not impossible) to get out of fabrics. According to the bedside healer Edgar Cayce who popularized castor oil packs in the early 1900s, a pack need not ever be washed. As you’ve probably noticed, with regular use of your Queen of the Thrones™ castor oil pack it will become fairly saturated with oil after about 7-15 uses and this can cause it to feel heavy or leak to the outer layer, in which case most people choose to wash their pack.

If you haven’t seen my edutainment video on how to clean your pack, check it out below. My fairy godmother will show you how! 😉

A common question we get about the packs after cleaning is below.

Sticky Oil Shimmer on the Outside After Cleaning

This is absolutely normal after washing. I’ve personally found the dishwasher to be the most effective method of cleaning to get as much oil out as possible, but the key is to always use an old tea towel to roll up the pack and really blot and wring out the oil on the outer layer.

With daily use, your castor oil pack will have a life span of about 3 months, sometimes more, sometimes less. Over time, it will naturally start to discolor and eventually break down. When it’s time for a new pack, just head on over to our website for a Refill Castor Oil Pack Compress

Yep natural dishwasher detergent/pucks (not dish soap!) You can tie your pack to the rack (top or bottom) and run it through on a regular wash/dry cycle then use an old tea towel to roll it up and squeeze out the oil. I’ve found this method to be the quickest and easiest for me 🙂

Hi Masha! Let’s try this – If you’re able to cross the straps around the back of your body and tie them on top of the front of the pack this can help with the folding. You could also fold the top in over itself, or wear an old T-shirt that is a bit more form fitting to help hold the pack in place. I tested out many different designs before settling on the Queen of the Thrones pack and you’d think that it would work better with the straps attaching in the corners of the pack but it actually didn’t – this design was the best in terms of folding down and not having too many straps that would get tangled. The most important part is that the center of the pack remains in contact with the body and you only need to use a small amount of oil for each treatment (1-2 tbsp)! I hope this helps! If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to my team care@drmarisol.com Thank you for reading and for leaving your comment!

    • Hello! Thanks for your comment! The compression of the pack on the skin is what helps to move you into the parasympathetic state, and stimulates the release of oxytocin and dopamine. It’s imperative to wear the Queen of the Thrones™ castor oil pack or you lose out on over half of the benefits and the most important part! Check out our FAQ page for more info here: https://drmarisol.com/faq/

    • At least 1 hour a day is best, but the longer the better! Wearing it to bed overnight is ideal because it works its magic while you sleep and helps you get into a deeper sleep. Just always make sure to wear old clothing that you don’t mind staining as castor oil will stain fabrics!

  • Hi Dr Marisil. is it ok to use heat with castor oil pack on thyroid cysts 3 times a week and 4/days off? Or it has to be used without heat? and how kong for each session should last. Best regards Anna

    • Dr. Marisol says:

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Wearing a castor oil pack over the thyroid helps to reduce inflammation and congestion of lymph, it gets things flowing! This in turn has shown to help reduce nodules. Consistency is always key with the packs so start out with one hour per evening and listen to your body signs to see if you need to adjust. Our members, from the Royal Court of Queen of the Thrones™, actually use the beauty sleep eye mask. It is great for this! Currently, we do not sell this pack individually, however, you will find it as part of the “Beauty Sleep Eye Kit” on our products page (which also can be found in our Queen Kit). The outer PUL layer of our packs hold in our natural body heat very well, so additional heat is not required.
I hope that this helps and please know that we here in the Queendom wish you much strength and happiness on your journey towards improved health!

Dr. Marisol, I am confused. In your “Fairy Godmother” role, you say to take the C.O.P. out of the dishwasher when it is wet. Above you say to run it on a wash/dry cycle. I have a Bosch dishwasher and it does have a delicate dry cycle. so please unconfuse me, which is correct? Thank you!!

    • Dr. Marisol, N. D. says:

      Hey Carleen,
Thanks for being here and great question!
I prefer to remove my castor oil pack from the dishwasher when it is wet because I then like to roll the pack into an old dish towel to help remove any excess oil. Many of our Queendom members have shared that they run the pack on a wash/dry cycle and that it also works well for them 🙂
